The project, which we call “Fjord” among ourselves, will include a training course in June 2023 in the magical Volda, Norway.
The training will involve 32 active youth workers and it’s aim is to enable them to organise stays in nature with young people methodically and in terms of content in such a way that they are fun for the participating young people, bring them closer to nature and its significance, they receive important stimuli of the most varied kind, they experience themselves and the group in a new and different way in a special environment. This training will teach the participants how to combine elements of experience, nature and group dynamics in a target group-oriented and goal-oriented way.
They will have acquired a number of methods for getting young people to experience nature, themselves and the group in a conscious and mindful way. However, it is not only about acquiring nature and experiential education methods, but also about being able to guide them in a way that is appropriate for the target group, as well as being able to evaluate the activities with the participants in such a way that they become a conscious learning process for all participants, which also takes up aspects such as communication, responsibility, tolerance and solidarity. The training participants develop an eye for how they can make the environment in which they find themselves into an experiential space for youth work, how they can creatively include local conditions in their activities. It is also about developing a sense for possible risks and dangers in nature and which activities and rules can have a preventive effect here.
The aim is for the participants to use the knowledge they have gained during the training in their own youth work and to discover the full potentials this activities do have especially in te context of social learning.
